Responsibilities
- Build polished front-end experiences and robust backend services across the full stack.
- Partner with practice leads to define architectural patterns, design principles, and implementation standards.
- Assess and improve development practices while teaching modern techniques and XP practices.
- Champion AI-first delivery, evaluate emerging tools, establish guardrails, and maintain an internal AI-assisted development playbook.
- Troubleshoot complex systems using logs, metrics, and streaming data.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation, and collaboration.
Requirements
- Minimum eight years of professional programming experience.
- BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Deep experience with Java/Spring Boot and Vue.js; experience with .NET is also relevant.
- Ability to work across large polyglot codebases, multiple programming languages, and different programming paradigms.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting complex systems and researching complex problems.
- Experience using AI coding tools, especially agentic approaches; Claude Code experience is a plus.
- Experience with testing, including unit and acceptance testing, and openness to Test-Driven Development.
- Experience in pair programming is preferred.
- Professional mentoring experience is required; insurance industry experience is a major plus.
