Responsibilities
- Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, gRPC services, and SQL queries for the promotions engine.
- Own and communicate solutions for high-scope, high-complexity technical problems with leadership and partner teams.
- Design, architect, and deliver features end-to-end in a collaborative development environment.
- Identify production bottlenecks and risks and drive scalability improvements.
- Set up and refine DataDog monitoring and alerting for owned systems.
- Mentor engineers through technical specifications, pairing, and code review.
- Participate in on-call rotations and own production release cycles end-to-end.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
- Experience operating production systems at scale, using load testing and tracing, and remediating CPU and latency regressions.
- Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, including Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.
- At least 2 years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for multi-client product surfaces.
- Experience building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms with geo-based routing and per-client configuration.
- Strong knowledge of relational databases, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized services.
- Comfort with terminal-based work, Git, GitHub or similar tools, and software editors.
- Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
- Experience with background job processing systems such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
- Experience with asynchronous event infrastructure such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Preferred qualifications include Elixir development, hexagonal architecture, Domain Driven Development, open-source contributions, startup experience, and interest in sports or esports.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience authoring technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documents.
