Responsibilities
- Own the double-entry accounting ledger, including its accounting model, invariants, and correctness guarantees.
- Design and lead systems for pay-as-you-go metering and billing, fixed-term commitments, and enterprise licensing packages.
- Build reconciliation, controls, auditability, immutability, and lineage for daily financial close and auditor traceability.
- Translate ASC 606, deferred revenue, contract modifications, and true-ups into precise, testable system behavior with Finance and Accounting.
- Lead major features end-to-end through design reviews, code reviews, written documentation, and mentorship.
- Drive observability, SLOs, incident response quality, and blameless operational learning.
- Set technical direction across teams and shape the platform roadmap and shared architecture.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building backend services with strong correctness, consistency, and durability guarantees at scale.
- Experience with financial or transactional systems such as ledgers, double-entry accounting, billing, payments, or revenue recognition.
- Understanding of idempotency, exactly-once semantics, immutability, and reconciliation.
- Fluency in Python or Go; interviews will be conducted in one of those languages.
- Experience partnering with Finance, Accounting, or other non-engineering stakeholders to translate policy and ambiguity into dependable systems.
- Staff-level ability to set technical direction across teams, shape shared architecture, and improve the design and operation of critical financial systems.
- Ability to work in an unfamiliar, high-stakes domain and learn it deeply and quickly.
- Experience preparing financial systems for SOX or external financial audits is preferred.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required for FedRAMP compliance.
