Base Salary
$295k - $345k/yr
Responsibilities
- Define and own the multi-year technical vision, architectural strategy, and execution roadmap for content safety ML systems.
- Partner with executive-level Product, Data Science, Policy, and Operations leaders to prioritize the ML roadmap and demonstrate its impact on trust and safety outcomes.
- Oversee the adoption and safe deployment of techniques such as transfer learning, self-supervised learning, quantization, LoRA, and distillation.
- Construct datasets, build auto-labeling pipelines, and solve novel technical problems end to end.
- Integrate ML solutions into Roblox’s production stack, including backend and infrastructure work that represents approximately 30–40% of the role.
- Lead technical strategy, resolve ambiguity and disagreement, and develop the next generation of technical leaders, managers, and engineers.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and operating large-scale machine learning systems in production.
- Proven ability to set long-term technical direction for an ML domain and take ambiguous problems from concept to scaled production impact.
- Deep expertise in advanced ML architectures and techniques, including Computer Vision and/or Vision-Language Models.
- Expertise architecting scalable, real-time ML inference services and robust data pipelines.
- Experience leading and resolving high-stakes cross-functional conflicts and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
- Strong product sense and strategic planning skills for translating platform safety requirements into an iterative technical roadmap.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to engineering teams and non-technical executive leadership.
- Commitment to fair, transparent, and responsible AI systems focused on user safety and platform civility.
