Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain reliable backend services and components for Expedia pricing applications.
- Contribute to low-level system design, API design, data modeling, and scalable service architectures.
- Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to define requirements, estimate work, and deliver iterative improvements.
- Own the operational quality of services through monitoring, alerting, logging, automated testing, deployment, and support or on-call rotations.
- Apply secure coding practices, conduct code reviews, and improve engineering standards, tools, and development practices.
- Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions and apply AI/ML concepts to real-world products.
- Optimize microservices for low latency and high-throughput processing of 1M+ TPS.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience owning features or services end-to-end within a bounded team scope, including implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem, including API design and consumption, data modeling, and computer science fundamentals.
- Foundational familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, workflows, and AI/ML concepts.
- Preferred experience with service or component-level architecture, low-level design, API contracts, and scalable data models.
- Preferred hands-on experience operating production services, including CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, incident response, and reliability or performance improvements.
- Preferred ability to work across multiple functional domains or technology stacks, including backend services with exposure to frontend or data systems.
- Preferred experience applying AI-assisted development tools such as code generation, intelligent testing, or AI-supported diagnostics.
- Preferred software development experience with Java, Scala, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented or functional programming languages.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, coding, communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.
