Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend services and components for Expedia pricing applications.
  • Contribute to system design, low-level design, API design, and data modeling for scalable, observable, and maintainable services.
  • Own features and services end to end, including implementation, deployment, monitoring, support, and ongoing improvement.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, logging, automated testing, secure coding practices, and production support processes.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to define requirements, estimate work, and deliver incremental improvements.
  • Participate in code reviews, on-call or support rotations, and efforts to improve engineering tools and standards.
  • Apply AI/ML concepts and AI-assisted tools or workflows to real-world products and engineering productivity.
  • Optimize microservices for low-latency and high-throughput processing of 1M+ TPS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience owning features or services end to end within a bounded team scope.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and its ecosystem, including API design and consumption, data modeling, and computer science fundamentals.
  • Foundational familiarity with AI-driven systems, tools, workflows, and AI/ML concepts.
  • Experience with service or component architecture, low-level system design, API contracts, and scalable data models is preferred.
  • Preferred experience operating production services, including CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, incident response, and reliability or performance improvement.
  • Experience across multiple functional domains or technology stacks and effective cross-team collaboration is preferred.
  • Experience using Java, Scala, Kotlin, or similar object-oriented or functional programming languages is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, coding, communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.
