Responsibilities
- Drive non-functional performance and load testing and identify critical optimization opportunities.
- Analyze load-generation systems, test-data generation, system behavior, and performance issues to determine what is broken and why.
- Develop accurate simulated load-generation and data-generation tests for Node.js and Go applications.
- Partner with engineering teams across products and platforms to improve performance coverage, load optimization, and testing.
- Investigate performance and resilience issues in distributed, high-throughput systems.
- Use observability, request-tracing, databases, Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, and load-testing tools to support analysis.
- Mentor more junior engineers and collaborate with senior load-testing engineers.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience with advanced load-generation and analysis systems and tools.
- Experience programming with Node.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, or Go.
- Ability to understand code, databases, data structures, persistence and performance tradeoffs, indexes, query planners, complex joins, and dataset modeling.
- Experience with MongoDB or SQL databases.
- Understanding of Kubernetes and microservices architecture.
- Familiarity with AWS and Azure public cloud environments.
- Experience with Datadog, New Relic, OpenTracing, OpenTelemetry, or similar request-tracing tools.
- Experience with load-testing tools such as JMeter, Apache Bench, or Artillery.
- Production experience with Linux and containers.
- Developer mindset with the ability to investigate code and system behavior and proactively identify optimization opportunities.
- Experience or understanding of agentic AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, and Copilot, including integrating agents, skills, workflows, CI/CD pipelines, Git hooks, or review processes.
