Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and end-to-end delivery of complex data platform initiatives.
  • Drive cross-team technical direction through architectural decisions, engineering practices, reusable frameworks, and design patterns.
  • Own solutions from problem definition and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Identify and resolve gaps, risks, technical debt, and missing requirements.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to align platform investments with business objectives.
  • Lead technical discussions and decision-making in ambiguous situations.
  • Mentor engineers through design reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, incident reviews, and post-mortems.
  • Improve reliability, observability, testing, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, and software quality.

Requirements

  • Requires 8–13 years of experience working on backend or distributed systems.
  • Requires strong experience designing and operating large-scale big-data systems.
  • Requires software development experience in Python, Go, Java, or other object-oriented languages.
  • Requires deep understanding of distributed systems, system design, and scalable data architectures.
  • Requires strong SQL expertise, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, query optimization, and performance troubleshooting.
  • Requires experience with Elasticsearch and Elasticsearch DSL or similar query languages.
  • Requires experience integrating RESTful APIs and building service-oriented systems.
  • Requires experience with columnar or time-series databases such as Databricks, Elasticsearch, or ClickHouse.
  • Requires experience with Amazon Web Services and cloud-native architectures.
  • Requires strong understanding of Kubernetes and containerized environments.
  • Requires understanding of automated testing, code reviews, observability, validation strategies, and software quality practices.
  • Requires the ability to influence technical direction across multiple teams and a proven record of mentoring engineers.
  • Preferred experience includes query execution and optimization internals, Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Databricks, Trino, Spark, Amazon SQS, and Kafka.
