Responsibilities
- Solve complex engineering problems and ship production software.
- Make important architectural decisions and implement them through hands-on coding.
- Set standards for clean, observable, maintainable, and adaptable code and systems.
- Mentor engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and context sharing.
- Help establish engineering pace and quality standards.
- Improve testing strategies, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure patterns.
- Own the reliability and performance of a technical domain, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Develop domain knowledge by spending time on farms.
Requirements
- Extensive experience shipping complex production systems.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, collaborate with low ego, and rally teams through difficult work.
- Product-oriented engineering mindset focused on customer experience.
- Ability to use AI tools effectively to improve team output.
- Experience developing other engineers through collaboration rather than people management.
- Comfort working in fast-moving and ambiguous environments.
- Experience working in cloud environments; AWS experience is a bonus.
- A software engineering degree or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Depending on specialization, experience with modern frontend frameworks, React, React Native, REST APIs, distributed systems, event-driven services, relational and non-relational databases, Node.js, Kotlin, Go, AWS, Terraform, observability, CI/CD, and on-call tooling may be relevant.
