Responsibilities
- Build specialised real-time ledgers tracking Wise’s FX risk and liquidity.
- Design real-time reconciliation and data-quality controls that identify discrepancies as they occur.
- Integrate new Wise products into the ledger across products and currencies.
- Scale resilient, observable event processing for Treasury.
- Own features end-to-end from product events through production ledger streams.
- Solve distributed-systems problems involving exactly-once processing, event ordering, replay, and real-time aggregation.
- Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, incident resolution, post-incident learning, and on-call support.
Requirements
- Professional experience building backend software and solid software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience with Java or a similar object-oriented programming language.
- Good understanding of databases and SQL.
- Ability to write well-tested, maintainable code and care about data correctness and edge cases.
- Ownership from design through production, product understanding, and willingness to learn new technologies and domains.
- Clear communication and collaboration with engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders.
- Experience with Kafka, Flink, other stream-processing technologies, analytical databases such as ClickHouse, event-driven or data-intensive systems, or financial domains is preferred.
