Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to firmware architecture and implementation for space-based systems.
- Perform end-to-end firmware development from requirements analysis and design through coding, simulation, verification, and validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define interfaces, resolve design issues, and support system integration.
- Conduct lab-based debugging, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and system-level validation using diagnostic tools and protocols.
- Apply high-reliability and space-grade techniques, including fault tolerance and radiation mitigation.
- Contribute to documentation, design reviews, and risk identification throughout the product lifecycle.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
- BS/MS in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
- Expertise with firmware engineering, VHDL/RTL, and SystemVerilog.
- Experience developing C and C++ code for microcontrollers.
- Experience with Xilinx, Microchip, and Lattice devices.
- Experience developing test benches, running simulations, and verifying compliance.
- Experience using schematics and working with JESD204B/C, Ethernet, SpaceWire, SPI, I2C, UART, and LVDS interfaces.
- Experience with GitHub, FPGA CI/CD flows, code reviews, automated linting, synthesis, regression testing, timing closure, bitstream generation, and release tagging.
- Experience using Python for build and testing automation and data analysis.
- Preferred experience with LIDAR systems, digital signal processing, precision timing, modems, high-reliability or space programs, TMR coding, and VS Code.
