Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and operate services and tools that accelerate OCI compute and network capacity growth.
- Deliver reliable, scalable capabilities for the physical asset lifecycle in collaboration with engineers and partner teams.
- Investigate issues across the stack and resolve root causes affecting service reliability, performance, and scalability.
- Apply distributed-systems and cloud-infrastructure principles to build resilient production services.
- Build and maintain service telemetry, dashboards, alarms, and runbooks.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, using operational learnings to drive durable improvements.
- Contribute to technical designs, architecture discussions, code reviews, and engineering standards.
- Work independently on defined problems while mentoring and supporting junior engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 1+ year designing, delivering, or operating scalable cloud-native distributed systems.
- Proficiency in one or more high-level programming languages, preferably Go or Java, plus working knowledge of scripting or automation languages such as Python.
- Experience contributing to products from inception through the full software development lifecycle.
- Understanding of microservice design patterns, service-to-service communication protocols, and highly reliable service design.
- Familiarity with observability practices including dashboards, service metrics, alarms, and operational health indicators.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and programming paradigms.
- Experience with production operations, safe deployment practices, on-call rotations, and incident troubleshooting.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas through design documents, proposals, architecture diagrams, and presentations.
- Preferred qualifications include an MS or PhD or equivalent experience, cloud control-plane or data-plane experience, complex distributed-environment troubleshooting, and knowledge of physical asset lifecycles in cloud-scale data centers.
- Preferred experience includes Data Center Infrastructure Management systems, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, service discovery, secret storage, containerization, and software-defined networking.
