Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and document firmware design-verification test tools, methods, protocols, and reports for commercial products and clinical studies.
- Build and maintain automated test infrastructure and expand continuous firmware regression coverage.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to bring up new test tools and methods.
- Read and modify existing bare-metal or RTOS firmware to debug issues, add test hooks, and implement validation features.
- Verify electrical stimulation waveforms, BLE communications, OTA-DFU fault handling, sensor measurements, and logging.
- Support requirements development, risk analyses, DHF deliverables, design reviews, and phase-gated development.
Requirements
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field.
- 5–7+ years of experience in embedded firmware testing and design verification.
- Embedded firmware experience and understanding of hardware, firmware, and software interactions at the system level.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, including the ability to read and modify bare-metal or RTOS firmware and inject test hooks.
- Experience generating, designing to, and testing product requirements; writing test protocols and reports; and executing formal DVT.
- Troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, including use of hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes.
- Prior medical-device development experience, including testing under Design Controls.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, IEC-60601, and ISO 13485.
- Preferred experience with external regulatory testing labs, EMC, Safety, FCC certifications, clinical-study devices, regulated research, and embedded-device integrations with mobile apps, desktop tools, or cloud services.
