Base Salary
$149k - $199k/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain the JavaScript player powering Disney streaming experiences.
- Design and implement cross-platform player features for browsers, televisions, gaming consoles, and set-top boxes.
- Optimize player performance for resource-constrained platforms.
- Create and review architecture and technical designs.
- Investigate and resolve issues through a strong understanding of the codebase.
- Collaborate with application, services engineering, and product management teams on device limitations and requirements.
- Lead deployment quality and stability strategies, including testing and telemetry approaches.
- Develop the project build system and continuous integration system as needed.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to other developers.
- Own large features, drive technical direction, and uphold high development standards.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of full software development lifecycle experience.
- High fluency in JavaScript and web technologies.
- Experience developing for web browsers and other web-based client devices.
- Experience with streaming technologies such as HLS or DASH.
- Experience with DRM technologies including PlayReady or Widevine.
- Knowledge of adaptive bitrate streaming algorithms, caption and subtitle formats, and media codecs.
- Experience developing and optimizing high-performance client-side media applications.
- Experience using build runners or compilation tools for multi-platform projects.
- Strong individual contributor with a willingness to learn and teach others.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively.
- Preferred: experience developing for Samsung, LG, Hisense, Vizio, gaming consoles such as PlayStation or Switch, Android devices such as Fire TV, or similar platforms.
