Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Architect scalable, low-latency systems and data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving personalized signals.
  • Design, build, and maintain pipelines for telemetry, product usage, and experimentation data.
  • Own orchestration, monitoring, and DevOps for critical data workflows.
  • Design data models and APIs supporting Copilot’s user context, preferences, and history.
  • Build real-time and batch personalization engines that adapt Copilot’s behavior.
  • Collaborate with privacy, security, and responsible AI teams to make personalization safe, transparent, and user-controlled.
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and cost across diverse workloads and geographies.
  • Ship high-quality, well-tested, secure, and maintainable code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical discipline and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in Python, C#, Java, or comparable languages.
  • 3+ years of experience with open-source software data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
  • 4+ years of experience building scalable services and securing applications and infrastructure on cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Experience with large-scale data systems and AI platforms, frameworks, and APIs.
  • Ability to resolve complex technical issues and collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and contribute to an inclusive, knowledge-sharing culture.

Benefits

  • Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated U.S. Microsoft office or a 25-mile commute of a designated non-U.S. location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week beginning January 26, 2026, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
  • The typical U.S. base-pay range is USD $119,800-$234,700 per year, with a San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of USD $160,200-$261,000 per year.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
