Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver high-quality architecture and APIs across Edge, Chromium, and the broader web ecosystem.
  • Deliver foundational web platform innovations focused on correctness, performance, security, accessibility, and compatibility.
  • Contribute directly to the Chromium codebase.
  • Partner with standards bodies, open-source communities, browser vendors, and internal teams to advance interoperable web capabilities.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship and own engineering projects from exploration and prototyping through standardization and shipping.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience, or equivalent experience.
  • Coding experience in C, C++, C#, or Python is required.
  • Preferred qualifications include a master's degree and 6+ years of experience, or a bachelor's degree and 8+ years of experience, with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred experience includes 5+ years with C++, large-scale software engineering projects, browser/runtime/operating-system or other performance-critical systems, Chromium and web standards or comparable systems, and complex project ownership.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check.

Benefits

  • Employees within a 50-mile commute of a designated U.S. Microsoft office or 25-mile commute of a non-U.S. location are expected to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
  • The position may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position will be open for a minimum of 5 days, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis until filled.
