Base Salary

$120k - $261k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and evolve scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems.
  • Lead technical design and architecture for complex product features and services.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of critical projects, including design reviews, implementation, monitoring, experimentation, and operational excellence.
  • Use telemetry and customer insights to identify opportunities and improve product health and customer experience.
  • Influence engineering decisions and support long-term maintainability of the Microsoft Advertising Billing Platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, building, deploying, and operating large-scale, highly available, and secure cloud services.
  • Experience architecting, developing, deploying, and operating distributed systems in production; 5+ years is preferred.
  • Ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives from concept through production with predictable, high-quality execution.
  • Experience leading technical design discussions and influencing engineering decisions.
  • Preferred experience with online advertising, search, e-commerce, AI-powered experiences, large-scale consumer products, platform modernization, cloud migration, AI/ML-enabled products, Copilot experiences, recommendation systems, or data-intensive applications.
  • Ability to operate services at global scale with focus on reliability, performance, security, and compliance.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud background check and other applicable security screening requirements.

Benefits

  • Typical U.S. base pay range is $119,800–$234,700 per year, with a separate San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area range of $160,200–$261,000 per year.
  • Employees within a 50-mile commute of designated U.S. Microsoft offices, or a 25-mile commute of designated non-U.S. locations, are expected to work from the office at least four days per week starting January 26, 2026, subject to local law and jurisdiction.
  • Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
  • The position will remain open for at least five days and accepts applications on an ongoing basis until filled.
