Base Salary
$165k - $265k/yr
Responsibilities
- Create highly reliable software systems controlling hundreds of satellites in low Earth orbit.
- Improve satellite constellation performance, security, and availability through software design.
- Own software from requirements and prototyping through development, testing, on-orbit rollout, and operational support.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to build satellite sensors, inter-satellite laser, communications, and space-based cloud-compute capabilities.
- Write Linux-based C++ software for common processors and microcontrollers such as ARM, PowerPC, and x86.
- Implement networking across satellites, ground operations centers, and users.
- Build automated ground software integrating data processing with satellite command and control.
- Develop models, simulations, and tools for flight-like software testing, network analysis, research and development, and hardware- or vehicle-in-the-loop testing.
- Create systems supporting frequent and reliable software deployment, test execution, and data analysis in continuous integration and release workflows.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or another STEM discipline plus 5+ years of software development experience, or 7+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a degree.
- Development experience in C, C++, Python, or similar programming languages.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret or Top Secret SCI security clearance; the position requires a Top Secret clearance as a condition of employment.
- Preferred experience includes real-world software deployment, computer architecture and networks, debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing.
- Some teams may prefer networking protocols such as TCP and UDP, Linux kernel development, high-performance C++ systems, image data processing, machine learning, and math or physics knowledge.
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
- Must meet applicable ITAR eligibility requirements or be eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
