Base Salary

$180k - $310k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Own detection and prevention systems for fraud, abuse, spam, and malicious content across millions of daily users.
  • Design and build scalable trust infrastructure for rate limiting, content scanning, anomaly detection, and account security.
  • Architect distributed systems, APIs, and high-volume event pipelines for real-time abuse detection.
  • Define and evolve the core data model and storage systems supporting trust and safety.
  • Build internal tools that help support teams investigate and respond to suspicious or malicious activity.
  • Use AI and LLM-based detection to address AI-generated phishing, fraud, and malicious content.
  • Build automated triage and investigation workflows.
  • Investigate and resolve complex security incidents with limited context.
  • Partner with engineering and product to balance security with user experience.
  • Shape Gamma’s long-term trust and safety strategy and technical roadmap.

Requirements

  • At least five years of backend engineering experience building scalable, high-traffic production systems.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience building highly available web APIs.
  • Strong proficiency with backend technologies such as Node.js or Python and databases such as PostgreSQL and Redis.
  • Experience with event streaming systems such as Redis or Kafka and high-volume event pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience implementing rate limiting, content detection, and fraud prevention features.
  • Track record of shipping complex, high-quality applications under tight timelines.
  • Product-minded understanding of how technical decisions affect user experience and business metrics.
  • Passion for security, user protection, and solving problems at scale.
  • Nice-to-have experience with AI or LLMs for content moderation; TypeScript, Prisma, Apollo GraphQL, or AWS; AI-assisted moderation pipelines; the AI threat landscape; or real-time collaboration systems.
