Base Salary
$194k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and implement backend APIs and services for a scalable agentic AI platform.
- Build agent identity, machine-to-machine authentication, credential management, and delegated access flows.
- Develop agent knowledge, memory, tracing, cost tracking, audit logging, and dashboard capabilities.
- Implement governance and safety features including tool-call policy enforcement, content filtering, PII protection, and human approval workflows.
- Build orchestration for multi-step agent workflows with state persistence and error recovery.
- Collaborate with Product, SRE, Security, Data Platform, Observability, and other partners on platform integration.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building production backend systems.
- 1+ years of exposure to AI/ML or agentic applications through production work, side projects, or hands-on experimentation.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend languages such as Python, TypeScript/Node.js, or Go.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating distributed systems, APIs, microservices, container orchestration, and serverless technologies.
- Security-conscious experience or familiarity with credential handling, trust boundaries, OAuth, OIDC, or other modern authentication patterns.
- Comfort working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where problem definitions and abstractions evolve.
- Preferred exposure to LLM integration, RAG pipelines, MCP, LangChain, LangGraph, Claude or OpenAI SDKs, policy-as-code authorization with Cedar or OPA, agent identity patterns, and developer-facing APIs or SDKs.
- Must be a qualifying U.S. person, such as a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or U.S. national; U.S. visa status does not qualify.

- Annual base salary for San Francisco Bay Area candidates is $194,000–$267,000 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
