Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, integration, and deployment of Cisco 4G/5G SA and NSA converged packet core and CUPS solutions.
  • Own high-level and low-level designs, end-to-end signaling call flows, session management, policy control, charging, subscriber data management, and network slicing.
  • Architect high-throughput, low-latency UPF and SBA control planes across Kubernetes, OpenStack, and bare-metal Telco Cloud environments.
  • Direct lab staging, proof-of-concept benchmarking, migration planning, operational runbooks, and real-time decision-making during carrier cutovers.
  • Advise telecommunications carrier engineering and executive stakeholders on technology roadmaps and architectural evolution.
  • Mentor consulting engineers, maintain delivery quality, and collaborate with Cisco development and technical assistance teams to resolve software and protocol issues.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of hands-on experience in service-provider mobile packet core architecture, engineering design, or delivery involving 4G LTE EPC or 5G NSA/SA Core.
  • Deep expertise in 3GPP mobile core protocols and interfaces, including 5G SBA, HTTP/2, REST APIs, JSON, PFCP, GTP-C, GTP-U, Diameter, RADIUS, and BGP/MPLS routing.
  • Experience architecting or deploying UPF, SMF, AMF, NRF, PCF, MME, SGW, PGW, and ePDG/N3IWF network functions.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, KVM, SR-IOV, DPDK, and CNDP in Telco Cloud and virtualization environments.
  • Experience leading mission-critical network cutovers, major software migrations, and performance benchmarking for tier-one telecommunications carriers.
  • Native or business-level Japanese fluency and professional working English proficiency are required.
  • Preferred qualifications include Cisco Mobility platform experience, knowledge of network slicing, Private 5G, MEC, and IMS/VoNR, CCIE or CKA certification, and scripting or automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform, or Linux shell tools.
