Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable Java microservices for critical business applications and customer-facing platforms.
- Architect Kafka-based event-driven solutions for asynchronous communication and real-time data streaming.
- Optimize AWS deployments, configure infrastructure, and tune application performance, security, availability, and cost.
- Translate business requirements into technical designs and implementation plans with product, architecture, and engineering teams.
- Apply secure coding, API governance, and data protection practices within microservices.
- Troubleshoot production incidents across Kafka, microservices, and AWS components, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive improvements.
- Configure build, test, and deployment workflows to support continuous integration and delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers in Java microservices, Kafka event streaming, and cloud-native design patterns.
- Analyze performance metrics and application logs to identify bottlenecks and improve response times, throughput, and resource utilization.
- Define observability strategies with site reliability and operations teams, including logging, metrics, and alerts.
- Evaluate tools, frameworks, and AWS services for technical roadmaps and platform reliability.
- Document architecture decisions, service contracts, data flows, and operational runbooks.
- Participate in code reviews, backlog refinement, and technical discussions during day shifts.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java and object-oriented design, with experience building clean, modular, testable microservices.
- Expert understanding of Kafka, including topic design, consumer group strategy, and message serialization.
- Hands-on experience with AWS compute, storage, networking, and managed data services.
- Solid knowledge of microservices principles, service decomposition, resilience patterns, and interservice communication.
- Practical experience with hybrid-work collaboration tools and agile methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and production issue-resolution skills.
