Base Salary
$140k - $165k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and document scalable, resilient, and high-performance video player workflows for linear channels, live events, and VOD playback.
- Define player framework API boundaries and detailed workstream designs, sequence diagrams, and interface contracts.
- Incorporate performance, availability, security, and observability requirements into architecture designs.
- Partner with engineers to validate designs through prototypes, integration testing approaches, and rollout plans.
- Translate design intent into implementable plans and acceptance criteria while coordinating dependencies and surfacing risks.
- Participate in architecture reviews, evangelize video player best practices, and improve shared documentation and operating procedures.
- Stay current on streaming protocols, video delivery practices, and emerging streaming technologies.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in video player architecture or 4 years of experience in video player development.
- Hands-on experience implementing a major media playback framework such as Media Source Extensions, MediaCodec, AVFoundation, or Video node.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for engaging technical and business audiences.
- Ability to understand business, product, and technology needs and apply them to architecture design.
- Preferred experience contributing to open-source video projects or industry standards bodies.
- Preferred proficiency with video formats, streaming protocols, enhanced video technologies, OTT delivery, DRM, watermarking, and token-based access control.
