Responsibilities

  • Develop expertise in database administration, performance analysis, troubleshooting, monitoring, capacity, reliability, backup, recovery, resilience, and disaster recovery.
  • Analyze SQL, PL/SQL, execution plans, database performance, and operational telemetry.
  • Support database upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and automation of repetitive operational tasks.
  • Build practical AI-assisted tools and agents for database diagnosis, operational investigation, monitoring, alerting, documentation, and workflow automation.
  • Work with application and infrastructure engineering teams to diagnose complex production issues.
  • Progressively take ownership of database engineering within a business-critical financial technology environment.

Requirements

  • Strong aptitude, intellectual curiosity, analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and an engineering mindset.
  • Strong interest in databases and how complex systems behave, with willingness to investigate problems deeply and learn quickly.
  • Some programming or scripting experience and good SQL fundamentals, or a strong desire to develop them.
  • Strong interest in AI and LLMs and their practical application to engineering.
  • Good communication skills and confidence working with experienced engineers.
  • Suitable background as either a strong graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical discipline, or an early-career engineer with approximately 1–3 years of experience in databases, infrastructure, or software engineering.
  • Beneficial exposure includes Oracle or other enterprise database platforms, Linux, Python or shell scripting, cloud platforms, and infrastructure automation.
