Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for HSIO and Data Transfer IPs, including firmware/hardware interfaces, register maps, and programming models.
- Debug firmware and IP issues across firmware, hardware, and RTL during pre-silicon simulation, emulation, bring-up, and system validation.
- Define and execute firmware validation strategies covering unit testing, firmware/RTL co-simulation, and regression automation.
- Develop Python-based tools and infrastructure for data collection, debugging, and validation-test execution.
- Support pre-silicon shift-left activities with design verification, diagnostics, emulation, and software/hardware modeling teams.
- Support post-silicon bring-up, platform-level debugging, and firmware validation, including customer-platform issues when requested.
- Participate in code and design reviews, author documentation, mentor engineers, and lead technical discussions and initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Strong C/C++ programming experience for resource-constrained, bare-metal, and embedded firmware targets.
- Experience developing firmware against hardware register interfaces and bringing it up on simulation, emulation, FPGA, and silicon platforms.
- Extensive experience with ASIC and firmware debugging methodologies, including debugging across firmware, hardware, and RTL boundaries.
- Strong Python scripting skills for tooling, data processing, and automation.
- Experience with source-control systems such as Git.
- Knowledge of physical and protocol levels of common high-speed interfaces, with PCIe and PC architecture knowledge preferred.
- Post-silicon board and platform debugging experience, including clock and power delivery, sequencing, analysis, and optimization, preferred.
- Experience with protocol or logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and related laboratory equipment preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, collaboration, self-direction, analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and mentoring skills.
