Responsibilities
- Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and execution of large, ambiguous Link initiatives involving new money-movement capabilities.
- Own projects end to end, including problem definition, technical planning, stakeholder alignment, delivery, safe launch, and iteration.
- Build scalable backend services and consumer-facing experiences across Java, Ruby, and TypeScript.
- Lead and unblock a project team of engineers through complex execution.
- Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Risk, Infrastructure, and other Stripe teams.
- Make architectural and implementation tradeoffs across payments, money movement, user experience, reliability, and technical foundations.
- Raise engineering standards through technical leadership, design reviews, mentoring, and feedback.
- Shape the team roadmap by identifying opportunities, technical risks, and scaling investments.
Requirements
- 10+ years of backend and/or full-stack software development experience owning large, ambiguous systems end to end.
- Experience leading the design and delivery of large, complex software projects from definition through production launch.
- Strong full-stack engineering skills, including reliable backend services and polished user-facing product experiences.
- Experience leading and unblocking engineers on a substantial project as a senior individual contributor.
- Ability to frame ambiguous problems, make durable technical decisions, and create actionable plans.
- Strong cross-functional and cross-organizational collaboration skills.
- Strong engineering judgment regarding reliability, operational excellence, security, and maintainability.
- Product-minded approach focused on meaningful user and business outcomes.
- Preferred: experience with Java, Ruby, and/or TypeScript.
- Preferred: experience with payments, money movement, fintech, regulated financial products, consumer products at scale, or 0-to-1 product development.
- Preferred: familiarity with stablecoins, digital assets, or infrastructure for global financial products.
- Preferred: appreciation for thorough internal and external documentation and project completion.
