Base Salary
$152k - $261k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and operate high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems and microservices in production.
- Own new features that improve platform scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility, and performance.
- Establish architecture paradigms, API standards, and technical strategy across multiple engineering teams.
- Lead technical turnarounds including zero-downtime database migrations, legacy modernization, and infrastructure cost optimization.
- Drive observability and reliability engineering practices, including distributed tracing, chaos engineering, and incident management leadership.
- Provide technical mentorship and help develop Senior engineers into Lead and Staff roles.
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional software development experience focused on large-scale back-end systems and microservices architectures.
- Proven experience designing, building, and operating distributed systems with strict availability and durability SLAs/SLOs.
- Deep mastery of at least one modern back-end language such as Go, Java, Python, C++, or Rust.
- Strong proficiency with relational and non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, and DynamoDB.
- Experience establishing architecture paradigms, API standards including REST, gRPC, and GraphQL, and technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; Kubernetes; and modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred experience with event-driven architectures, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Pulsar.
- Preferred background in observability, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, chaos engineering, incident management leadership, and technical mentorship.
