Base Salary

$295k - $345k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver complex end-to-end technical features in the Roblox game engine and Studio UI.
  • Establish foundational architecture and technical direction for expanding Roblox Studio capabilities.
  • Design workflows and platform features that enable creators and AI agents to collaborate at scale.
  • Work cross-functionally across teams and technology platforms to deliver high-quality functionality.
  • Lead by example and mentor engineers on technical best practices, patterns, and strategies.
  • Improve product quality through automation testing and reliable system design.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience working on deep, challenging problems and large-scale systems.
  • Experience with C++ codebases and game engine development.
  • Experience building highly available and scalable systems.
  • Hands-on experience with microservice architecture, multithreading, networking primitives, and performant user flows.
  • Strong ability to deliver features end to end from vision through implementation.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Familiarity with version control internals, file storage systems, network protocols, and database system internals is preferred.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, curiosity, reliability, and mentoring skills.

Benefits

  • San Mateo-based roles have an annual base salary range of $295,250–$345,040 USD.
  • Office-based roles are onsite Tuesday through Thursday, with optional presence Monday and Friday.
