Responsibilities
- Lead the design and evolution of logging, metrics, and tracing pipelines.
- Evaluate and integrate new technologies to enhance observability.
- Guide and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers.
- Define and uphold coding standards and operational excellence.
- Partner with various teams to embed observability throughout the development lifecycle.
- Own end-to-end reliability for observability tools and establish SLAs, SLOs, and error budgets.
- Optimize performance and cost of large-scale data pipelines.
- Shape the observability roadmap with prioritized initiatives.
- Instrument prompts and model calls for AI features.
- Build dashboards and alerts for monitoring AI performance.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on observability or infrastructure at scale.
- Demonstrated success in implementing production-grade logging, metrics, or tracing systems.
- Proficiency in distributed systems concepts and data streaming pipelines.
- Deep knowledge of tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
- Comfort with programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java.
- Experience mentoring engineers and collaborating across teams.
- Strong communication skills for presenting technical plans.
- Eagerness to own high-impact initiatives from design to maintenance.
- Ability to balance short-term fixes with long-term strategic vision.
- Passion for enabling engineering teams through reliable observability tools.
