Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, and optimize on-ice gameplay systems such as skating physics, stick handling, puck trajectories, collision dynamics, and team AI behaviors.
  • Write clean, modular, high-performance C++ code for modern console hardware, including memory management, multithreading, and frame-rate optimization.
  • Collaborate with game designers, animators, producers, audio engineers, and technical leaders to turn hockey concepts into polished gameplay mechanics.
  • Explore and integrate AI techniques, automated testing tools, and dynamic behavior models into gameplay and development workflows.
  • Build and support internal tools, debugging utilities, and editor extensions for designers and animators.
  • Iterate on responsiveness, stick control, animation transitions, and hit-reaction physics.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers and promote strong architecture, code review, and engineering practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional game development experience.
  • Proven experience shipping game titles or building core gameplay or physics systems.
  • Advanced proficiency in C++ and object-oriented software engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D mathematics, physics simulation, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience with multithreaded architecture, memory optimization, and performance profiling tools.
  • Deep understanding of character movement, animation blending or state machines, spatial AI, or real-time physics interactions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical disciplines.
  • Preferred experience includes current-generation console development for PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S, dynamic character physics, cloth or equipment simulation, procedural animation, Perforce, Git, and continuous integration pipelines.
  • Passion for hockey, ice sports, or sports gaming titles is desirable.
