Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Java and Spring Boot backend services for payment capabilities.
  • Build secure APIs and event-driven integrations supporting the full customer payment journey.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical design decisions for distributed, scalable systems.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Own solutions throughout their lifecycle, including design, implementation, production support, and operational readiness.
  • Improve automated testing, observability, security, and production readiness.
  • Review code and technical designs and share knowledge with other engineers.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools and agents across software design, development, testing, code review, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and platform teams.
  • Support modernization of payment capabilities into scalable, cloud-ready services.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing distributed, event-driven, or high-volume transactional systems.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, microservices, APIs, and integration patterns.
  • Ability to evaluate options, explain trade-offs, and make pragmatic design decisions.
  • Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging technologies.
  • Practical cloud experience, preferably with AWS.
  • Experience with relational databases and transaction consistency.
  • Understanding of secure development, automated testing, CI/CD, and observability.
  • Strong practical experience with AI coding assistants and engineering agents, including validating generated results and following security requirements.
  • Strong ownership, accountability, communication, and knowledge-sharing skills.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required for Pan-Baltic collaboration.
