Responsibilities
- Architect and build the Legal and Operations Engineering platform of agents, workflows, and evaluation infrastructure.
- Own the enterprise contracting automation system end to end.
- Ship in-product legal surfaces built on Perplexity and Computer.
- Consolidate legal bots, prompts, and scripts into a documented, observable, reusable platform with conventions for personas, tools, evaluations, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
- Partner with the General Counsel to translate complex legal workflows into engineered systems and communicate engineering constraints to non-technical stakeholders.
- Evaluate, retire, or replace third-party tools when an internal system provides a structural advantage.
- Develop a forward-deployed engineering model for Legal, Recruiting, People, Workplace, and Operations.
Requirements
- 7+ years of backend software engineering experience and a track record of shipping production systems at meaningful scale.
- Working knowledge of legal concepts, with legal operations or paralegal experience desired.
- Experience building scalable processes and foundational systems from scratch.
- Fluency with modern legal technology and AI tools, including disciplined human-in-the-loop practices.
- Strong business judgment, practical problem-solving skills, and comfort making operational decisions amid ambiguity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with senior legal, finance, and executive stakeholders.
- Prior experience at an AI-native, SaaS, or consumer technology company is preferred.
- Familiarity with e-billing platforms such as Brightflag, matter management, CLM, and entity management systems is preferred.
