Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and own scalable backend systems and APIs that shape Slackbot’s product experience.
- Develop intelligent search, information-surfacing, third-party integrations, and platform foundations for millions of users.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend and frontend engineers to deliver high-impact features.
- Define the long-term health and roadmap of team features and core systems.
- Assist support and operations teams with triaging and resolving complex production issues.
- Mentor engineers, provide deep code reviews, and improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
- Contribute to technical architecture discussions and drive critical technical decisions across teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience building and shipping web applications with a backend development focus.
- Experience with functional or imperative programming languages such as PHP, Python, Java, Ruby, Go, or C.
- Experience with PHP/Hack, Java, MySQL, and Linux is a strong plus; familiarity with other web languages and relational databases may substitute.
- Experience with search infrastructure, large-scale APIs, or AI-powered systems is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to contribute to architecture discussions and drive cross-team technical decisions.
- Track record of writing understandable, testable, maintainable code.
- Solid computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, programming languages, distributed systems, and information retrieval.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to nontechnical stakeholders.

- The stated base salary range is $197,300–$323,700 annually, or $237,700–$344,700 annually in select San Francisco and New York City metropolitan-area locations; compensation figures are excluded from benefit details.
