Base Salary

$166k - $308k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Develop hardware-in-the-loop solutions for end-to-end testing of embedded instrument software.
  • Design, author, automate, execute, and confirm requirements-driven tests across exploratory, white-box, black-box, end-to-end, system, integration, unit, functional, performance, and scalability testing.
  • Automate front-end and back-end tests for instrument software and web applications.
  • Automate deployment and testing pipelines across branches and stages.
  • Report quality metrics and enhance quality dashboards.
  • Perform root-cause analysis of defects and discoveries.
  • Develop automation frameworks and validate automation toolchains.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance of quality engineering deliverables.
  • Partner with Test Architects, Test Leads, and Verification & Validation Leads on engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with designers, architects, developers, system engineers, testers, and manufacturing teams on product development.
  • Participate in development events and guide junior testing team members as needed.
  • Execute and troubleshoot software tests directly on physical hardware in a laboratory environment, collect device data, and analyze system behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, with advanced degree preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • 10+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience involving Java, JavaScript, C++ or object-oriented programming, software architecture, networking, distributed systems, and/or UNIX/NT development.
  • At least 5 years of software development experience with exposure to instrument control programming.
  • At least 4 years of experience in quality engineering or a similar field.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, software architecture, object-oriented programming, and software development lifecycle knowledge.
  • Experience debugging complex issues at the software/hardware interface.
  • Proficiency or strong experience with C++, Java, Python, JavaScript, multithreaded programming, real-time control algorithms, concurrent systems, message-passing design patterns, test automation frameworks, Unix derivatives, behavior-driven development, Gherkin specifications, and databases and queries.
  • Experience in regulated industries such as medical devices, digital health, or life sciences is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Comfort working around electromechanical systems, automated instruments, and physical hardware in a laboratory setting.
