Base Salary
$150k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate production AI systems and language-model scaffolding for conversational, predictive, and generative product capabilities.
- Lead end-to-end AI initiatives from problem definition and data flows through dataset design, evaluation, deployment, and iteration.
- Build pipelines that collect, curate, and transform multi-source data into training and evaluation datasets.
- Operationalize fine-tuning and evaluation workflows for language models supporting WHOOP Coach and AI Support.
- Develop experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and production observability tooling for AI features.
- Create feedback loops connecting member interactions, offline evaluations, and training-data updates.
- Mentor engineers and data scientists and help improve technical practices across the AI Platform team.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience in applied machine learning, AI engineering, or ML-focused software engineering, including significant production work.
- Hands-on experience with modern language models, prompt design, fine-tuning, and rigorous evaluation.
- Working knowledge of dataset construction, feature engineering, training workflows, evaluation metrics, and experiment design.
- Familiarity with supervised fine-tuning, direct preference optimization, reinforcement learning, and their production data and evaluation implications.
- Experience shipping and operating ML-powered systems end to end, including data pipelines, production deployment, inference optimization, observability, and lifecycle management.
- Strong data manipulation and analysis skills, including work with messy, multi-source, and semi-structured data.
- Familiarity with secure and privacy-aware AI practices and sensitive data.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and cross-functional technical leadership skills.
