Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core APIs and scalable backend services.
- Own the design and implementation of new features and services.
- Own production system operations and monitoring.
- Integrate third-party systems and APIs into the platform.
- Identify best practices and propose standards for the engineering department.
- Document and demonstrate solutions through documentation, diagrams, code comments, and clear code.
- Mentor junior colleagues and onboard new team members.
- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and business stakeholders.
- Occasionally propagate backend changes to frontend applications.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience designing and building scalable backend services in modern production environments.
- Strong proficiency in Go and a deep understanding of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
- General frontend knowledge and the ability to perform basic frontend application tasks.
- Excellent English skills and residence in a European time zone.
- Valid right to work in Europe, including the UK.
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is desired.
- Strong ownership, initiative, communication, collaboration, and ability to learn complex systems.
