Base Salary

$153k - $197k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship 3D engine systems for avatar and environment geometry, including mesh processing, level of detail, transcoding, streaming, and runtime loading.
  • Partner with Rendering, Avatar, Studio, developer-facing teams, and external developers to make engine features usable for creators.
  • Profile and improve game-engine performance across devices, with particular attention to mobile and low-end hardware.
  • Drive well-scoped projects from design through implementation and rollout while maintaining technical quality and code health.
  • Collaborate with engineers and clearly communicate technical topics.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of professional experience building and shipping performance-sensitive software.
  • Proficiency in C++ and the ability to write clean, readable, maintainable code.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one real-time 3D area such as rendering, mesh or geometry processing, level of detail, animation/skinning, spatial data, asset pipelines, or GPU/client performance is a plus.
  • Experience with game engines, real-time simulation, robotics, AR/VR, or similar domains is a plus.
  • Experience contributing features to a large codebase is a plus.
  • Ability to take a well-scoped problem from design through implementation and rollout, gather context when requirements are unclear, collaborate across teams, and explain technical topics clearly.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies, including AI-assisted tools, and grow technical scope.
