Base Salary
$147k - $210k/yr
Responsibilities
- Write and test product or system development code for Spanner infrastructure.
- Design and improve distributed database and storage-system capabilities for large-scale batch and transactional workloads.
- Participate in or lead design reviews and evaluate technology choices with peers and stakeholders.
- Review code and provide feedback on correctness, testability, efficiency, and engineering practices.
- Document systems and update educational content based on product changes and user feedback.
- Triage, debug, track, and resolve product or system issues through root-cause analysis.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Two years of C++ programming experience, or one year of industry experience with an advanced degree.
- Two years of experience designing and developing distributed databases or storage systems.
- Experience with performance analysis, debugging, and optimization for distributed or low-level systems.
- Experience with concurrency, multithreading, and synchronization.
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Preferred: experience with database internals, memory leaks, data corruption, database performance and tuning, and transactional database systems.
- Preferred: understanding of distributed computing concepts and consensus algorithms such as Paxos.
