Responsibilities
- Set technical direction for the team to solve the right problems effectively.
- Design and build core platform systems that protect Asana at scale.
- Own critical platform concerns like traffic flow management.
- Define stable interfaces and libraries for other platform teams.
- Lead end-to-end projects from scoping to rollout across multiple teams.
- Raise technical quality through code reviews and mentorship.
- Partner with infrastructure teams to embed reliability into architecture.
- Debug complex issues across the stack to prevent future occurrences.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with experience in production code.
- 8+ years of experience building and operating backend systems at scale.
- Experience leading technical projects and influencing team direction.
- Ability to improve others through feedback and raising technical standards.
- Familiarity with distributed systems patterns and capacity planning.
- Experience with major cloud platforms and monitoring tools.
- Ability to define and work within reliability and performance targets.
- Clear communication skills and strong collaboration abilities.
- Curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies.
