Base Salary
$120k - $190k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate backend services and APIs for identity verification, account recovery, and account protection workflows.
- Own database schemas, migrations, query performance, and data integrity.
- Build and harden authentication, authorization, and data-protection systems.
- Design for correctness under load through idempotency, safe retries, failure handling, and observability.
- Partner with product and design to ship secure customer-facing workflows and build internal tools and dashboards.
- Debug production issues across services, data, infrastructure, and user flows while improving reliability, performance, testing, deployment, and observability.
- Review code, mentor peers, and contribute to architecture decisions and the technical roadmap.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience building and operating production backend systems.
- Strong experience with backend languages such as Node.js, Go, Python, Java, or similar.
- Experience designing APIs and services for real customers or high-scale internal systems.
- Strong relational database experience, preferably PostgreSQL, including schema design and query optimization.
- Hands-on cloud experience, preferably AWS.
- Familiarity with authentication, authorization, identity, security, or fraud and abuse prevention.
- Ability to work across the stack when needed, ideally with React, Vue, or a similar modern frontend framework.
- Experience with OAuth, SAML, SSO, JWTs, access control, or secure account workflows is a bonus.
- Experience with identity, authentication, account recovery, fraud prevention, fintech, security, compliance-heavy products, production incidents, observability, or reliability is preferred.
