Responsibilities
- Own complex problems spanning multiple services and facilitate cross-functional resolution.
- Write, enhance, troubleshoot, refactor, review, and deliver secure application and service code.
- Define, design, and develop service-level procedures and solutions for business requirements.
- Drive prioritization, backlog development, product acceptance, and trade-off decisions with product partners.
- Automate and simplify software delivery and development workflows.
- Drive integration across connected services and introduce technologies and architecture aligned with enterprise guidelines.
- Conduct blameless postmortems, identify incident root causes, and implement learnings to improve availability.
- Provide development and architecture guidance to team members and advocate for engineering principles.
- Conduct technical interviews and prepare objective promotion recommendations for engineering staff.
- Build partnerships across organizations and work with globally distributed development resources.
- Apply code scanning, testing, API standards, release workflows, and standardized CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyze core, heap, and thread dumps to diagnose and resolve coding and production issues.
- Conduct product demonstrations and coordinate with product owners on acceptance sign-offs.
- Improve customer journeys and reduce incident mean time to mitigate while supporting high availability.
Requirements
- Ability to write secure code in three or more languages, such as Java, JavaScript, and SQL.
- Knowledge of secure coding standards, vulnerability management, infrastructure as code, and cloud-first software development.
- Experience with branching and peer review practices, including Gitflow and movement toward trunk-based development.
- Ability to use code-quality and security scanning tools such as Sonar, Zally, and Checkmarx.
- Skills in test-driven development, behavior-driven development, unit testing, contract testing, and integration or journey testing.
- Understanding of basic and advanced software design patterns, API standards, API cataloging, and service adoption.
- Experience with agile and modern SDLC practices, including Scrum, Kanban, Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and quality engineering.
- Ability to define and estimate non-functional requirements involving security, regulatory needs, performance, SLAs, throughput, and transactions per second.
- Experience orchestrating release workflows and CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, AWS or Azure pipelines, and XL Release.
- Familiarity with APIs, event-driven services, batch services, web applications, big data, virtualization, and containerization.
- Ability to debug core, heap, and thread dumps and remove coding errors.
- Understanding of customer journeys, incident mitigation, and high-availability objectives.
- Experience working on cross-functional and large projects with globally distributed development resources.
