Responsibilities
- Architect and own embedded software for fire detection systems.
- Design, code, test, debug, and maintain embedded software, including microcontroller drivers and applications.
- Plan and manage software contributions to product development, NPI, and sustenance projects.
- Provide third-level support to field engineers and assist with released-product maintenance.
- Perform estimation, risk assessment, planning, task allocation, tracking, code reviews, design reviews, and unit testing.
- Collaborate with engineering, product support, technical authors, SQA, compliance, approvals, factory testing, and external suppliers.
- Prepare ISO QMS documentation, participate in quality reviews, and recommend improvements to software guidelines and standards.
- Develop software metrics, methods, evaluation criteria, and clean, reusable implementation guidelines.
- Coach and mentor technical team members while working independently with limited supervision.
Requirements
- 8–14 years of experience in Embedded C, C++, application development, and microcontroller driver development.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree in ECE, EIE, ETC, CSE, or another technical field.
- Experience with embedded bus protocols including I2C, SPI, and UART.
- Strong knowledge of analog and digital hardware, peripheral interfacing, and microcontrollers.
- Experience with RTOS, Embedded Linux, middleware, and application development is preferred but not required.
- Experience with Renesas, Microchip, and ST microcontrollers and their tools is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, or similar version/source-control and project-management tools.
- Knowledge of embedded software design, programming techniques, multithreading, and debugging with ICE, GDB, JTAG, and chip programmers.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, leadership, ownership, and mentoring skills.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies, fire detection systems, Qt/Linux, C#/WPF, Delphi, oscilloscopes, or logic analyzers is preferred.
