Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, and maintain Java backend services and APIs.
- Build and enhance Quarkus and Jakarta EE microservices using event-driven patterns.
- Support modernization from on-premises environments to AWS and container platforms.
- Integrate REST, SOAP, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, and DocumentDB systems.
- Improve automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, security, monitoring, and release readiness.
- Collaborate with developers, architects, Product Owners, and DevOps specialists in distributed teams.
- Contribute to engineering best practices, mentoring, knowledge sharing, and AI-assisted coding, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on Java backend development experience.
- Strong knowledge of Java enterprise development, microservices, and API design.
- Experience with Quarkus, Jakarta EE, Spring, or a comparable Java framework.
- Practical knowledge of SQL databases, Git, automated testing, and CI/CD.
- Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, or comparable cloud and container technologies.
- Ability to understand complex systems, work with legacy code, and own delivery.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills in an international environment.
- English proficiency at B2+ level and Slovak proficiency at C1+ level.
- Preferred experience includes Kafka, event-driven architecture, React, JSF, Terraform, Jenkins, Maven, Flyway, GitHub Actions, MongoDB, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Grafana, Prometheus, SonarQube, Fortify, observability, code-quality, security tools, or regulated-industry experience.
