Responsibilities
- Design and evolve on-device Swift client SDKs, system frameworks, and XPC services connecting applications and system daemons to Private Cloud Compute.
- Implement high-throughput, low-latency request paths with Protocol Buffers serialization, compression, session lifecycle management, retries, cancellation, and streamed model output.
- Manage concurrency and resources using Swift Concurrency, async/await, AsyncStream, and GCD, including back-pressure and long-lived XPC connection lifetimes.
- Build telemetry, signposts, and privacy-audited logging for diagnosing failures across device, cloud, and inference layers without exposing user data.
- Collaborate with PCC server-side, Foundation Models, attestation, and platform-framework teams; write design documents, lead reviews, and mentor engineers.
- Profile on real Apple hardware with Instruments and improve memory, latency, and energy efficiency.
Requirements
- Experience developing complex system-level frameworks, daemons, or background services for iOS and macOS beyond standard UI-focused application development.
- Strong Swift programming proficiency and experience with Objective-C or C/C++ for lower-level system integration.
- Deep understanding of concurrency, Swift Concurrency, GCD, memory management, and asynchronous network programming.
- Experience with wire protocols, Protocol Buffers, data-streaming pipelines, or connection management is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with Apple's XPC is preferred.
- Familiarity with secure communication protocols, cryptography, privacy-preserving architectures, ML concepts and frameworks, Instruments, and native Apple telemetry and logging APIs is preferred.
- Familiarity with end-to-end device, network, and server systems and their cross-tier failure modes is preferred.
