Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Prototype, iterate, and ship LLM- and embedding-powered reader experiences.
- Build across the full stack: Node.js/TypeScript backends and React frontends.
- Integrate new AI features into existing Times systems and APIs.
- Write, test, and refine prompts and retrieval pipelines.
- Instrument features with evaluations and performance monitoring.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and journalists.
- Contribute to practices around evaluation and responsible AI use.
- Support the value of journalistic independence.
Requirements
- 2+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on consumer-facing features.
- Hands-on experience with Large Language Models in a production context.
- Proficiency in Node.js or TypeScript for backend and React for frontend development.
- Experience navigating codebases and established backend infrastructure.
- Familiarity with GenAI-assisted developer tools.
