Responsibilities
- Design and implement Kubernetes operators and custom controllers for a large multi-tenant platform.
- Write production Go and Python code that interacts with the Kubernetes API using client-go and controller-runtime.
- Own features end-to-end from Custom Resource Definition design through implementation and rollout.
- Address distributed-systems concerns including consistency, failure modes, leader election, and graceful degradation.
- Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to integrate with Bloomberg-wide systems.
- Improve platform reliability and operability through better abstractions.
Requirements
- Strong programming ability in Go and/or Python.
- Experience with Kubernetes internals, including operators, controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, and admission webhooks.
- Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals such as consistency, reconciliation, and failure handling.
- Curiosity about underlying systems and willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Preferred qualifications include contributions to Kubernetes ecosystem projects such as controller-runtime, kubebuilder, or operator-sdk; experience with multi-tenant platforms or control planes; TypeScript or JavaScript experience for CLI or UI tooling; and experience designing REST or gRPC APIs for developer-facing platforms.
