Responsibilities
- Own and deliver quarterly team goals while leading engineers through ambiguous, open-ended problems and supporting them throughout delivery.
- Partner with infrastructure, product management, developer experience, and analytics teams on ideation, technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs.
- Develop technical solutions and operational processes that improve incident readiness, response, and post-incident analysis.
- Create and monitor metrics, escalate issues when needed, and support team artifacts, keep-the-lights-on work, and on-call operations.
- Establish and improve code review and design standards and advocate for quality and ownership through writing and technical talks.
- Develop team talent through feedback, guidance, and leading by example.
- Participate in a required on-call rotation.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
- At least 4 years of experience working on a Site Reliability or Production Engineering team.
- Experience with scripting and development languages such as Bash, Python, or Kotlin.
- Experience developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
- Meaningful experience contributing to or driving Incident Lifecycle processes and improving reliability, resilience, system performance, and operational quality.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant features or system components with simple, extensible designs.
- Experience making impactful changes in large codebases and developing tools and practices for safe delivery.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to ownership, growth, feedback, and collaborative problem-solving.
