Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain high-performance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot/WebFlux.
- Build scalable microservices, distributed systems and asynchronous, event-driven solutions using messaging platforms such as Azure Service Bus.
- Build and operate cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure, including Cosmos DB, Blob Storage and other Azure platform services.
- Develop services supporting product search, relevance, ranking, recommendations and orchestration across H&M’s digital customer journeys.
- Build, test and deploy services using CI/CD, containerisation and Kubernetes practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers and cross-functional stakeholders to create scalable technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and improve security, observability, reliability, performance, resilience and scalability.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex production issues and support services in production.
- Explore AI, GenAI and LLM-based technologies for meaningful business and engineering challenges.
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java and experience developing production-grade backend services.
- Around 3–6 years of professional experience in backend or software development.
- Experience with Spring Boot, cloud-based applications, cloud-native development and microservices.
- Understanding of reactive programming, Spring WebFlux, distributed systems, API design, asynchronous processing and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews and production support.
- Experience with containerised applications; Docker and Kubernetes knowledge is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving, debugging and complex-systems troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to collaborate across locations, disciplines and time zones and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure, Cosmos DB, Azure Service Bus, Blob Storage or equivalent cloud services.
- Preferred experience with search, relevance, ranking, recommendation or information-retrieval systems, including Elasticsearch or Solr.
- Experience with AI, GenAI or LLM-based applications, large-scale data, high-throughput services, observability, performance optimisation or production operations is a plus.
