Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of new web solutions, platforms, and enhancements.
- Translate business requirements into architectures, functional flows, and technical specifications aligned with enterprise standards.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership for complex components, integrations, and mission-critical web applications.
- Drive estimation, delivery planning, dependency and risk management, and engineering representation in project discussions.
- Establish engineering practices for code quality, documentation, reuse, refactoring, design patterns, and maintainability.
- Ensure applications meet availability, scalability, extensibility, monitoring, alerting, and operational-readiness standards.
- Lead and mentor a blended team of Synchrony and vendor engineers.
- Define and track delivery, quality, reliability, and productivity goals and drive continuous improvement.
- Communicate technical decisions, delivery status, trade-offs, and mitigation plans to stakeholders and leadership.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and support production issues and critical releases, including flexible shifts or on-call work as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with 4+ years of software engineering experience and 2+ years in a technical leadership or lead engineer role.
- Candidates without a degree may qualify with 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring/Spring Boot, and React JS for complex web applications.
- Experience with REST APIs, event-driven systems, high-availability services, and performance-focused architecture.
- Experience with Micro-Frontends and front-end architecture is preferred.
- Working knowledge of AWS services and cloud-native security, scalability, and cost-aware design is preferred.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automation, DevOps practices, SQL and NoSQL data stores, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery, release management, change and incident management, and technical ceremonies.
- Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or enterprise LLMs with attention to security, quality, and compliance.
- Strong communication, stakeholder-management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
