Responsibilities
- Prototype, design, develop, and support scalable SaaS cloud security data platform and middleware services.
- Build and operate data services handling millions of transactions per second and hundreds of terabytes of data.
- Own data-source architecture, assess application data-scale needs, investigate technologies, conduct proofs of concept, and deploy solutions to production.
- Provide data platform as a service, resilient client SDKs, developer advocacy, and best-practice guidance to application teams.
- Instrument day-one and day-two operations, and migrate, burst, and scale data stacks into the cloud with minimal downtime.
- Drive architecture, performance, scalability, high availability, security, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
- Co-develop Qualys’ big-data platform and collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams.
- Produce high-quality Java software using sound architecture, design, testing, profiling, and security practices.
- Provide thought leadership, mentoring, technical communication, and cross-team guidance on system performance, reliability, and sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience developing SaaS software products and solutions for service-oriented deployments in public or private clouds.
- Strong data structures, algorithms, analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Java programming experience, including object-oriented design, prototyping, development, testing, and profiling.
- Experience with distributed data systems such as Redis, Kafka, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, Spark, Hadoop, Apache Flink, and OLAP systems such as ClickHouse.
- Experience with infrastructure orchestration and automation tools such as Terraform and hands-on use of CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of JVM concepts including garbage collection, heap, stack, profiling, and class loading.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly across teams and work within agile software development methodologies.
- Preferred knowledge of distributed systems, data encryption and security standards, Docker, Kubernetes, Graphite, Grafana, Prometheus, Consul, Vault, Vagrant, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Maven, Ant, and Gradle.
