Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver flight and hotel search, pricing and availability aggregation, booking flows, and travel content platform components.
- Design and build robust, scalable distributed systems handling real-time travel inventory and pricing.
- Architect APIs for search, booking, and trip management used by client applications.
- Contribute to ideation, technical design, implementation, and testing of high-impact travel features.
- Integrate APIs with OTAs, GDSs, suppliers, and other external travel partners while improving reliability.
- Collaborate with Product, Data, and UX teams to shape the ShopBack Travel experience.
- Drive engineering best practices, mentor engineers, and elevate technical standards.
- Analyze complex requirements, propose pragmatic solutions, and communicate technical trade-offs.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience building consumer-facing platforms or distributed backend systems.
- Travel or OTA experience is strongly preferred, including flight metasearch, hotel aggregation, activity marketplaces, travel content platforms, or GDS, LCC, and API integrations.
- Experience with flight or hotel domains such as availability, fare rules, rates and inventory, ranking and relevance, caching, or booking orchestration.
- Hands-on experience with Node.js preferred, or other backend technologies.
- Experience deploying applications to cloud environments, with AWS highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of API design, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous technical environment and collaborate with engineering, product, and third-party partners.
- Demonstrated use of generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, or Claude to improve development workflows and productivity.
